Próspero's story

Prospero Coredero O., 66, lives with his wife and 2 children in a community named San Cristobal Norte. It is in a fairly mountainous area where people engage in things like business, agriculture, and coffee. Mr. O. has dedicated his entire life to growing all types of vegetables and producing meat, generally from cows and pigs. He believes that with his experience he has always been able to have the best products, but now he needs a loan of 599,000 colones to buy 2 pigs in order to increase meat production and improve his income. He is a member of the Empresa de Crédito Comunal San Cristóbal Norte [San Cristobal Norte Communal Credit Company] (SACRIN), one of the 100 organizations that are members of EDESA in Costa Rica. He has received 5 microloans previously and has paid them all off responsibly.
