La Esperanza Group's story

The committee called “La Esperanza” (The Hope) was established more than a year ago so that the members could access credit and other services offered by Fundacion Paraguaya. The group consists of different neighbors who have known one another for several years. They are accustomed to the habit of meeting every Sunday afternoon so that they could help one another and learn how to build their committee.

Sra. Emilia is one of the members who sell clothing. With the arrival of a new season, she wants to increase her earnings by purchasing in quantity so that she can obtain the wholesale price. By acquiring clothes for spring and summer at a lower cost, she hopes to generate more revenue. Emilia has been in this business for some time and wants to continue so that she can help with the family expenses.

Her vending post is located at her house, but she also travels to the homes of her acquaintances to sell her merchandise. Emilia finds different ways of selling her goods in order to increase her profits. She says the loans have helped her replenish her inventory.
