Uwezesho Group's story

S. Mohammed, who is in his mid-thirties, is married with three children: one son and two daughters. He owns a food stall from which he sells homemade food, soda, milk, water and juice. He has been running this business for 15 years. The stall is open daily from 7 a.m. until midnight. His business earns him a good monthly profit. This will be S.’s first Motisha loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. A Motisha loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended. S.’s goal with this loan is to increase his stock of beverages. He believes that the combined sales of drinks and food will increase his profits. S. will share the loan with his loan group, Uwezesho, which has 12 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for the repayment of the loans. In the picture, S. is the first on the right, in the front.
