A loan helped us grow our small business and get new and better inventory.
After 15 years working in the cafeteria of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico - Guayama Campus and preparing catering, I decided to give myself a chance in a restaurant. This lasted a very short period of time because hurricane Maria destroyed the space. In August 2019 I decided to give myself a new opportunity with La Fondita de Raquel. This new restaurant is a warm and inviting space where I hosted intimate events and "Noches de bohemia" with singers and acoustic music. The pandemic has made things a little difficult for several reasons but for many years it has been my dream to have my own restaurant where I can receive all of my friends and customers who have been with me since I started and serve them my exquisite meals. This is why I would like to invest in La Fondita de Raquel so we can adjust to the current needs of staff and customers. We need to add space to be able to host performances and invite a local artist and family friend to stage more comfortably. I am applying for Kiva so that I can move forward and for the benefit of my family and 6 employees. This has been my journey throughout the years and I look forward to continuing.
