Martha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Martha's story

Martha is a 31-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in the Nchelenge district in Zambia. Martha sells groceries, such as canned foods and soft drinks.

With her first Kiva loan, Martha replenished her inventory of groceries and expanded her business. She is requesting a second loan in order to buy more groceries in order to meet her customers' needs.

Martha plans to use the profit she earns to support her family’s basic needs and to give back to the community.
Additionally, she will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build children’s self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.
