Justine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt, and maize flour to sell.

Justine's story

Justine is 31 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with three of them currently in school. For the past five years, Justine has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells essential items like sugar, salt, cooking oil, and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Justine has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt, and maize flour for sale and will help Justine to generate greater profits and manage to repay the loan in time and also provide her family with enough basic needs. Justine hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build a house for her children.

Justine is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Justine who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
