A loan helped To purchase and insure a dairy cow.
David has been practising dairy farming for eight years in Litein town, Rift Valley, Kenya. He sells his milk to a nearby tea estate. He employs two people from his community. He also practises small-scale farming of tea which he sells to a local tea factory. He faces the challenges of lack of enough animal feed and a poor road network to the market. David is 43 years old. He is married with seven children who are now between the ages of 2 and 18. Six of the children attend school. David has requested this loan of 30,000 Kenyan shillings from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase and insure a dairy cow. He says that with an increase in the number of his dairy cows his production will increase, and this will earn the family extra income that will help pay school fees for the children. In five years' time, he hopes his business will grow into a profit-making business with five dairy cows that are productive. He is grateful to the company for their assistance.
