Kadriye's story

Kadriye was born in Diyarbakir in 1961. She never got married and took care of her mother. She was born as the only daughter of her family. Although she studied nursing in high school, she could not study at university due to financial difficulties. After the death of her father, she started living with her mother. When her mother got older and her care costs increased, she started to look for a job where she could work while taking care of her mother at home. After she received a 5-day training on "Micro-credit and Micro-entrepreneurship" from TGMP, a Kiva field partner, she applied for a microcredit.

She started to do handicrafts and embroidery at home with TRY 700 microcredit she received in 2011. Later, she started to make and sell dowry items in her home by receiving a loan of TRY 1,000 and TRY 2,000. She has received a total of TRY 56,000 microcredit until today. Kadriye aims to open a shop with the TRY 5,000 microcredit that she will receive through Kiva.
