Cruzche Iii Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy palm leaves and more animals to raise.

Cruzche Iii Group's story

Fermina, a 46 year old married mother of 7 children (9-30). Because 4 of her children are married, she now has more access to the younger ones who are in the 2nd and 5th grades. For 10 years, Fermina has managed 2 businesses: She makes straw bottle covers, raises chickens, turkeys and goats, and arranges thread into colors that will be woven together.

With a KIVA loan, she will buy more animals to raise, as well as palm material for her bottle covers.

Seven Maya K’iche' women, who live in a rural area in the department/state of Quiche, elected Fermina to be the Treasurer of their group. This is their 8th KIVA loan and will use the funds for their animal husbandry, bottle covers and traditional textile businesses. They participate in the Friendship Bridge “Microcredit Plus” program (loans, education, healthcare) and have formed the Trust Bank “Cruzche III”. Monthly meetings feature an educational session, designed by a Facilitator, centered around 4 topics: family, women, health, business. Every two months, the ladies have access to basic health services, consults and exams. A visiting nurse, who speaks their language and is sensitive to their needs, also educates them about the pandemic and the importance of vaccinations.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for learning about Fermina and her friends and for funding their much appreciated loans!
