Alice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase modern farm inputs such as fertilizers and seeds to help her with her farm production.

Alice's story

Alice (a single mom) has never felt sorry for herself for a lack of formal secondary and higher education. She uses her natural abilities to pull herself out of her poverty situation. Her perseverance and determination have enabled her to send her children to school, regardless of the many adversities she has had to go through. Today she is a mixed farmer doing dairy and crops.

Alice has never lost her enthusiasm, but moves from one challenge to another and emerges a victor. In Kapcherop, Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which have always skyrocketed.

After learning about Juhudi Kilimo, Alice has applied for this loan to purchase modern farm inputs such as fertilizers and seeds to help her on her farm production, so that she can improve her produce and make more income to support her children.

Unlike local money lenders who charge exorbitant interests on loans, Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva have entered into a partnership that aims at improving the lives of smallholder farmers, through providing them with loans and encouraging them to save. Through this intervention, the movement of funds in rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.
