Aramatou's story

Mrs Armatou K. is married and mother of 5 (2 boys and 3 girls). She was born on 16 March, 1979 at Kadiolo, a prefecture in the 3rd administrative region of Mali. She lives with her husband and 5 children in the Tagousso district of Kadiolo. She has been in the business of selling tubers, fruit and vegetables for 9 years. She has a stall at the Kadiolo market where she sells her products. She is assisted by one of her nieces. This is her second loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. She intends to use her loan to buy 1 tonne of yams and 1 tonne of plantain bananas. She sources her products from Ivory Coast, a country bordering Mali. She sells to a clientele of both men and women, accepting cash or credit for orders or retail purchases. She envisages making a monthly profit of 80.000CFA which she will use to increase her business activity and to put aside in savings as she hopes to one day build a house to live in at Kadiolo
