He Muong 31 Group's story

The leader of He Muong 31 group stands the first from the right in the photo with the traditional hair style of Thai women when married. Her name is Thanh. She is 46 years old, married and has a son who is married. She lives in the traditional stilt house of the Thai ethnic group with her husband, son, daughter-in-law and nephew in Dien Bien province. People here primarily work in agriculture to earn money for living expenses.

Thanh’s spouse, son and daughter-in-law are the main people who generate income so that every day, they work laboriously on their farm, with various activities, such as growing rice and corn and raising pigs, ducks and chickens. But Thanh usually faces problems making enough to earn a living. Her family also has been recognized as a near-poor household by the local government. In order to get out of poverty, she decided to borrow a loan from the Anh Chi Em program to invest in raising buffalo by buying a new buffalo.

Thanh hopes that her buffalo will grow up quickly and healthy to bring her family a great profit which will be used to repair her house and cover her children's tuition fees at school. She dreams that her family will get out of poverty and always be filled with warmth and happiness.
