Marianita Asunción's story

Marianita Asuncion and her family live in Picoazá which is known for its business and religious celebrations. It is also known for producing vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit and for being the source of progress and business center of Manabí.

Marianita Asuncion and her husband make a living from selling fruit, vegetables, and legumes. He transports their fresh, high-quality produce on a tricycle to their customers and sells from door to door, to restaurants, and stores, and she sells their produce from home to their neighbors who also come to purchase products.

The family got sick with COVID-19, but they all recovered. Social distancing kept her from working in the beginning; she was afraid of becoming sick and various restrictions didn't allow her to go out and sell their produce, but they are now observing all the biosafety protocols.

This loan will be used to purchase corn, lettuce, broccoli, green beans, carrots, etc. She dreams of owning a vehicle to continue selling her products and of her family enjoying good health.
