Del Porvenir Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped named Mirsa who needs a blender to open a third business selling smoothies and snacks!

Del Porvenir Group's story

Mirsa, a 49-year-old married mother of a 19-year-old daughter who lives independently and attends the university, works as a teacher in her community. Her husband works for the government. For 9 years, she has made and sold chocolate. Mirsa also sells fruit and firewood. Her first Kiva loan will enable her to open a third business selling smoothies and snacks. She plans to buy a blender along with the necessary ingredients. A long term goal is to reconstruct a room in her home into a small cafe where she will sell delicious regional appetizers.

Eleven women have joined Mirsa to participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, educational training sessions, and health care services. They live in the department/state of Suchitepequez. The ladies sell clothing, prepared foods, delicious tamales, chocolate, and firewood. Others have convenience stores or are farmers growing corn. Their monthly educational sessions, designed by a Facilitator, give them essential information about effective business management practices, health, hygiene, nutrition, and the use of medicinal plants. Mirsa attended a virtual advanced educational training session about making regional snack foods. They also learn about the pandemic, vaccines, and precautions to take.

The program is life-changing for Mirsa and her friends. Thank you, Kiva investors, for making a difference in their lives!
