A loan helped to buy farm inputs and to pay for membership in a water project and pipe water to her farm.

Dorcas's story

Meet Dorcas, a 33-year-old farmer from Ntumburi community. She is a member of a group of Kinoria women that partner with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Dorcas is a single mother of one child who has not yet enrolled in school.

The borrower has been a farmer for the last six years and she describes her farming business as a profitable one. Prior to farming, she was a businesswoman in the nearby market, which she quit because it wasn’t earning her as much income as farming is. She has a dream to buy a bigger piece of land to use in farming.

Dorcas, however, faces the challenge of inadequate water for irrigation and lacking enough capital to buy her farm inputs. She will use this loan to buy farm inputs and to help her pay for membership in a water project and pipe water to her farm.

Dorcas appreciates your reading her Kiva loan request and hopes for your support.
