Syliviah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more men's T-shirts, ladies' dresses, trousers, and skirts.

Syliviah's story

Sylviah is 44 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has nine children. Four of her children are currently in school.

For the past 20 years, Sylviah has been working hard to manage her boutique where she sells all kinds of men's and ladies' clothes, like shirts, dresses etc. To help expand her business, she has requested a 3,000,000 UGX loan from BRAC Uganda to purchase more men's T-shirts, ladies' dresses, trousers, and skirts to sell. This will help Sylviah to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing enough food for her family and buying new clothes for her children.

Sylvia hopes that, in the future, she will be able to expand her shop and start a wholesale business.

Sylviah is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Sylviah, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for micro loans.
