Mual's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to jump-start her weaving operations by enabling her to invest in raw materials and increase her earning potential.

Mual's story

Mual has seen a complete transformation of her community during her lifetime. Born in 1958, she lived through communist upheaval, guerrilla warfare, and forced relocation. Through these changing times, she raised two children and struggled to keep her family supported in their rural village. Her husband, Khai, is a farmer and a village leader, but their family faced privation and uncertainty through much of her adulthood.

Several years ago, Mual's adult daughter began training as a weaver in the hammock project. Mual was supportive of her daughter's attempt to diversify her family's income, and she often helped her daughter with her weaving. Working side by side with her daughter, Mual realized that she had also become an excellent weaver.

Now Mual is proud that she has an income stream and a skill all her own. She is able to help her family save money and support good nutrition, and she no longer fears becoming a burden on her son and daughter as she grows older.

This loan will help Maul stabilize her hammock weaving income by ensuring she has supplies and yarn to weave consistently through the coming year.
