A loan helped to buy flowers, plush toys, cards, bottles of wine, chocolates, baskets, and other supplies.

Mercedes Monserrate's story

Mercedes Monserrate is 54 years old, married, and has two grown children who are independent. Her husband is a merchant. They live in their own home in Portoviejo, a city that was affected by an earthquake on April 16, 2016, and now by the COVID-19 pandemic. This city is rich in its production of vegetables, legumes, and fruits for domestic consumption.

Mercedes Monserrate has small rented floral shop where she sells floral arrangements for all occasions to her customers who have requested them. Her customers order the arrangements based on their needs and personal tastes. Mercedes Monserrate works every day and makes home deliveries. She was unable to work at the start of the pandemic due to the social isolation, the fear of getting sick, and various restrictions on travel and sales. However, she is now following biosafety protocols.

This loan will be used to buy flowers, plush toys, cards, bottles of wine, chocolates, baskets, and other supplies. Her dreams are to have her own shop where she can generate more sales and to see her family in good health.
