Mujeres El Porvenir Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of bath towels.

Mujeres El Porvenir Group's story

Florinda is a married, 33-year-old woman. She is the mother of four children over the age of one. She has two businesses. She sells casual and traditional clothing, as well as women’s shoes. Part of her income is designated to be used for the ongoing education of her children. The older ones are in second and fourth grades in elementary school. Florinda went to school through seventh grade. With her first Kiva loan, she will be able to buy new products for her clothing business. Florinda plans to buy a variety of bath towels.

The “Mujeres el Porvenir” communal bank is made up of eight women, with Florinda among them. They are in the department and state of Sololá. Florinda is the president of the group and calls their monthly meetings. The women make payments on their loans and participate in interactive training sessions. These are a fundamental part of the loan, education, and health program “Microcrédito Plus”. A facilitator uses games, images, and diagrams to share information about four areas: business, health, women’s matters, and family matters. The availability of health services is vital to these women. A visiting nurse offers them all kinds of services, consultations, and basic exams.

Florinda and her groupmates are ready to take a step towards a better future thanks to their determination, hard work, and the support of Kiva lenders working through Puente de Amistad. Thank you!
