La Bendición 3 Group's story

Magdalena is 24 years old, she studied to sixth grade, she did not continue studying because she did not like it. She is the first of four sisters. She married at the age of 19, at the beginning of her marriage her husband worked for an hydroelectric company, and worked his plot growing coffee and cardamom. They have a girl.

They did not have economic pressure, but a friend told her about Chajulense Association of Women United for Life, and the credits for women they offered. She got interested in the opportunity and she got her first credit, and start Small Grocery Store, with her second credit she and her husband invested in buying a piece of land for planting cardamom, with their third loan they bought a cart of to sell French fries and sandwiches. They invested her fourth credit in expanding the grocery store. This year they will invest her loan in planting and cultivating coffee.

She is grateful for the support given by the association, because they managed to invest in a good way in different business opportunities, and this has helped them to improve and follow their dreams.

Magdalena is the leader of La Bendición 3 Group, the group is integrated by 4 women, all from the Ladino ethnicity. The group will invest their loan in food 50%, and agriculture 50%. On average, each member of the group has 3 children, the average age of the members of the group is 32 years old. And 50% are illiterate, and 25% can read and write, and 25% ended the primary education.
