A loan helped purchase food ingredients in large quantities to increase her profit margin.

Esther Asoswin's story

Esther Asoswin is a 27-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and two children in the Garu Tempane district in Ghana. She runs a business selling 'kenkey,' which is a type of sourdough dumpling and is a local Ghanaian delicacy. She is requesting a Kiva loan to purchase ingredients in larger quantities to increase her profit margin.

She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's basic needs and further her education. She will repay the 'social interest' on her loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Peer Educator, leading life skills sessions for students in local schools on topics such as rights and choices, choosing a career path and active citizenship.
