Maneerat's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy supplies and yarn to weave hammocks consistently through the coming year.

Maneerat's story

Maneerat lives in a rural village in the mountains of Phrae, Thailand with her husband and two children. Although she never had the chance to go to university, Maneerat did finish high school.

For Maneerat, hammock weaving has provided an increase in income that is much needed to support her family and an alternative to working in back-breaking slash-and-burn agriculture. She uses the profits from her weaving business to pay for household expenses, support her children’s schooling, and make payments on the truck that she purchased! She hopes her children will have the opportunity to not only finish high school, but to go on to university!

Maneerat explains that hammock weaving is less taxing on her than field labor, and says, “it also allows me to work indoors, out of the elements. I always thought only doctors and teachers worked indoors!”

Maneerat’s loan will ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global pandemic and that she is able to invest in raw materials to have steady weaving work throughout the coming year. Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Maneerat is grateful for your support!
