Leonie's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a woman-owned business overcome the challenges of starting an Eastern Medicine practice.

Leonie's story

I left my home in Jamaica in 1999 and came to America to as we say in the Caribbean "make something of myself". It took me several years, and many mistakes to achieve this personal goal. In the Fall of 2016, I graduated with my master's in Acupuncture and a bachelor's in Healthcare Administration. Since then I have worked with different non-profit organizations such as Poverello and the VFW Post 8195 doing acupuncture, cupping, and offering nutritional counseling because of my empathy for Veterans and those affected by HIV and AIDS. For the past two years, I have been working with for-profit wellness centers, this led me to incorporate myself in February of this year, creating LongvilleAcu Llc, and signing a contract with the Veterans Administration to see veteran patients needing acupuncture. It has been difficult, however, my passion to educate and help people using Eastern Medicine and Acupuncture has not diminished. My goal is to grow from being an independent contractor with two rooms to the owner/operator of a multi-room wellness center.
