Lazela's story

My background is tied to my business through years of experience in the foodservice industry. I can remember being 16 years old working as a biscuit maker for Hardee’s here in the city of Albany before going to school in the mornings. That required me to be at work from 3:30 am until 6:30 am Monday thru Friday. Once I graduated high school, I was offered a full-time position and eventually worked my way up the ranks to management. After working for about a year, I entered the management program. Once completed, I was offered a position as an Assistant Manager. I worked very hard and was eventually promoted to General Manager. After running my store for 3 years, I was promoted to an Area Supervisor position. I have always prided myself on customer service and quality. This, of course, didn’t just start as a teenager but cooking and making people happy through food was always something I enjoyed doing just sitting back fellowshipping with family and friends tends to bring me so much joy. Therefore, when I relocated I decided that I wanted to do what I loved and that was cooking not just any food but (Soul Food) so that was the start of Zaila’s Place our mission is to make every guest feel like they are at home from the time they walk into the doors until they leave.
