A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her horticulture crop production and make more income to support her family.

Nancy's story

Nancy, a first-time Kiva borrower, is a 64-year-old mother of four children living in Kerugoya, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the past many years. She is a woman with a vision for a brighter future.

Nancy is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her horticulture crop production and make more income to support her family. The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is at the forefront in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs during this difficult period.

A loan to her will be vital to achieve food security in her home during this period of global economic recession.
