but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy piglets and pigs' food.

Thanh Luong 51 Group's story

In the photo, a Thai ethnic woman standing first from the left is Dien. She was born in 1973, has been married and has a son. Dien’s couple lives with their son in the Dien Bien province which has a high poverty rate.

Although born in a poor village, Dien has taken great effort to overcome all of the deficiencies and a lot of faith is put in her by other villagers. She was elected as chairman of the village women’s union. To struggle with the poverty and escape from it, Dien has been always tried hard to increase production but, without being trained in any specialty, Dien’s couple is only involved in agricultural production, with very old traditional techniques for experience. With the recent technique counseling and loan at the Anh Chi Em program, she has been able to invest in pig raising. With the loan, she could afford to buy piglets and pigs’ food to expand pig farming. She believes that selling pigs will bring good profit to her family.

Dien hopes that, with the advice from the agriculture workers of the Anh Chi Em program and her husband’s support, her investment will go well and help to significantly improve her family’s income. If she’s successful in this investment, she will use the profit to buy some materials for the family and nurture her son who is going to apprentice.
