Tisha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a baker and women-owned business expand to share more artisan dairy and gluten free products.

Tisha's story

The starter was food sensitivities, which got me cooking and baking for myself Over time, I discovered I just feel better when I avoid all gluten and dairy-containing foods. Because commercially available gluten-free bread just wasn’t that delicious, I had mostly eliminated bread products from my diet. While these adjustments had unquestionably benefited my body, I developed a keen sense of being left out of a key ingredient for the enjoyment of life and of community, a common feeling for those with a wide range of food allergies and sensitivities. In 2020, I joined the ranks of people who began to experiment with bread. “Surely, I can figure out how to make a better gluten-free loaf than what I can buy in the grocery stores,” I thought to myself. After many experiments, a number of failed attempts and almost giving up a couple of times, I finally found a recipe that was delicious, consistently beautiful, and nutritious. After years of mostly avoiding bread products, I began to reincorporate them into my diet and share them with my gluten-intolerant friends. It was their encouragement that prompted me to launch Tisha's Delicious Bakery from my home kitchen in January 2021. I am so glad to be able to not only enjoy bread again myself but to offer it to so many whose story is similar to mine. I am also proud to be offering products everyone can enjoy whether they are gluten or dairy intolerant or not. My hope is that my products touch that place of joy and create a feeling of inclusion and community around food.
