A loan helped to buy a buffalo.

Nua Ngam 44 Group's story

Phong is 33 years old, married very early and has two children who are attending school. Her family lives in a poor village in the Dien Bien province, where agriculture is the main economic activity.

Both Phong and her husband are farmers. They work very hard with many agriculture activities, such as growing rice and corn, raising pigs, buffaloes, cows, chickens and ducks. Despite their hard work, Phong’s family is still poor and has been recognized as a poor household by the local government. She really wants the support from the Anh Chi Em program through a loan as well as the technology to improve her family finances and get rid of the poor household status. For this reason, she borrowed a loan this time from the Anh Chi Em program with the aim of buying a buffalo to plow and reduce the labor force when farming and maybe to sell later.

She hopes that by buying the buffalo, her work will be less hard, that it will increase productivity to have more income and that she will have more capital to expand her business. Phong wishes for her family to be more prosperous and for her children to finish school and for them to have bright futures.
