Kamni's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy silk thread, dye colors, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

Kamni's story

Kamni is a married woman who lives in Surin Province, Northeast Thailand, with her husband, son, and grandchildren in a Kui community. Her family currently makes a living by farming rice and weaving silk cloth for sale.

For a long time, Thai people have made a living by weaving silk cloth. The skill is passed down from generation to succeeding generation, and this has taken place in Kamni's family. She had seen her grandmother, auntie, and mother weaving silk, so she was very familiar with the process. Then, she learned from them.

During the recent period, she was looking for a loan to expand the business to generate more income for spending in her family. Therefore, she applied for a Kiva loan to purchase more silk thread, dye colors, and silk for weaving and selling silk cloth.

The loan will enable her to purchase the materials necessary for her occupation. The loan will also help this female entrepreneur. In the future, Kamni has planned to open her own silk cloth shop to provide a better quality of life for her family.
