Suyan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy silk thread, dye colours, and materials for weaving silk cloth.

Suyan's story

Suyan is a local married woman who lives in a Khmer community in Surin province, north-east Thailand, with her husband and children. Her family makes a living primarily through rice farming, but they also weave silk cloth for sale. One of her children must work in the city to earn more income for spending on the education fees of siblings.

Suyan has been weaving silk cloth since she was about 15 years old because she enjoyed the occupation. Her mother taught and inspired her to weave silk cloth since that time. She has weaved silk cloth for selling in order to generate sufficient income for spending in her family and paying the education fees of her children.

She sought a loan and applied for a Kiva loan to buy more silk thread, dye colours, and materials for weaving silk cloth. Suyan will be able to get sufficient materials for her job that will be helpful for local businesses. She desires to sell her products in her community and the silk market. In the future, she would like to make her family happy and wishes their standard of living improved.
