Betty's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single, ever-smiling mom to buy farm inputs such as seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers so that she can improve her farm's production.

Betty's story

At only 44 years of age, Betty, a single mother of five children, has become excellent proof that hard work leads to success. She is one of the most successful mixed farmers in Kitale.

Her main goal is to support her family and give them a happy life.

Access to modern, quality farm inputs is the foundation supporting agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizers and seed allocation by the government is far below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into assisting smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Betty is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers to improve her farm’s production and make more profits so she can pay her children's school fees. She wants to become a successful businesswoman and ensure a better quality of life and welfare for her cherished family. Betty is very grateful for having a chance at a Kiva loan.
