Stella's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase iron sheets, cement, and other items for resale.

Stella's story

Stella is 34 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with three of them currently in school. For the past three years, Stella has been working hard to manage her hardware shop, which sells hardware items such as cement, nails, and paint.

To help expand her business, Stella has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase iron sheets, cement, and other items for resale and will help Stella to generate greater profits, save some money, and send her kids to better schools. Stella has land and hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a house on it.

Stella is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Stella who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
