A loan helped To have a large capital base to increase the amount of manioc for sale, with the hope of realizing a larger profit.

Irakoze Ii Group's story

Jean de Dieu N., a member of the I. II community group, is a 38-year-old merchant who lives in the Gatumba area of the Mutimbuzi Commune in the province of Bujumbura Rural. He has been selling manioc at the Gatumba Market for 15 years. He attended school up to 10th grade at the secondary level. His wife, Rebecca Ngendanzi, is also a merchant and sells potatoes. He is on his second loan cycle in the community loan program with Turame. He is the father of six children: two girls and four boys, of whom three are students. He is seeking this loan through Kiva with the goal of having more capital to increase the quantity of manioc for sale, with the hope of realizing a larger profit. He is highly appreciative of the Turame-Kiva loan partnership because the loans are easy to obtain and the repayment terms are smooth, compared to other microfinance institutions.
