Rona's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy an electric sewing machine, white fabric and fabric paints to stock up her home tailoring business and increase her income.

Rona's story

Rona is 39 years old and married with 2 children, ages 8 and 2. Rona lives with her family in their own home which is located about 15 minutes drive to Port Vila in the city of Vanuatu. Her husband works at a local church office and he is very supportive of their family and her tailoring business. Her village is large and the main industry is tourism. As Covid-19 hit the world hard, the Vanuatu's tourism industry has also been greatly affected. It is now difficult to make an income.

Rona has requested a loan to buy an electric sewing machine, white fabric and fabric paints so she can stock up her home and better provide for her customers while increasing her income. The majority of her customers are civil servants and bank tellers. With her increased stock, it will help bring more income to her home which she will use to build a separate house to start sewing lessons for interested individuals.

Rona learned to make dresses from her mother-in-law and has been in her tailoring business for over 6 years now. She loves her business as she gets to make new patterns and new mixtures of paint colors for dresses. This is Rona's fourth loan with SPBD - Vanuatu. Her previous loans were successfully repaid in full. Rona feels motivated with her loans to expand her business so she can help her family and community.
