Mireya Sulay's story

This young woman is Suly, a 21-year-old who lives in the community of Santa María. This community, located 2.5 hours from the Maldonado parish, has a hot and humid tropical climate that is favorable to growing blackberries, tomatoes, and other hot-climate fruits.

Sulay comes from a family of day laborers, which is how she acquired the knowledge and experience needed to cultivate her own blackberry bushes. For three years she has been growing about 30 blackberry bushes. Now, her crop is about to flower, so she needs to care for it even more. To do this, she needs help to buy seeds, compost, and fertilizer, among other agricultural products. In this way, she hopes that she will have a greater yield.
