A loan helped to buy fingerlings.

Muong Phang 59 Group's story

Tham, a Thai ethnic minority woman living in Dien Bien Province in the northwest mountains of Vietnam, is 34 years old, married and has five children. Three of her children are attending school. Tham had to drop out of school after completing her primary education due to difficult circumstances, so she always works very hard to earn money to invest in her children's education.

Tham and her husband work agriculture to generate income. They grow rice and raise buffalos, cows, chickens, pigs, and fish. Tham has seven previous loans through the Anh Chi Em and successfully repaid all of them. Now, she is requesting an eighth loan to buy fingerlings (young fish) to expand her husbandry business and improve her family's economic situation. She hopes that with her five years of experience in raising fish and technical support from Anh Chi Em program staff, her investment will be successful and profitable.
