36-year-old Thanh is married and has three children: the eldest son already has a job, the middle daughter is in grade 9 and the youngest son is in nursery school. They live in a remote village in the northwest border of Vietnam where agriculture is the main source of income for local people.

Like other villagers, Thanh and her husband work as farmer by cultivation and raising pig, fish. Because of difficult circumstances in the past, she only finished primary school, so she wants her children to go to school fully for a better future than hers. Recently, the semester of her children is coming and need a lot of money to pay tuition fees so she decides to invest in her fish farming to earn extra money for her children’s education. Fortunately, she has an opportunity to access and borrow the tenth loan from the Anh Chi Em program after successfully repaid 9 previous loans. Thanh plans to use this loan by buying fingerlings (young fish) to raise and sell later. She hopes her fishes will grow fast and can be sold soon.

Thanh thanks Kiva lender and the Anh Chi Em program for this opportunity. It is a portion to escape of poverty, her children will go to school fully and have bright futures
