A loan helped to buy a cow.

Thanh Yen 51 Group's story

Bich is a Thai ethnic-minority woman in the remote northwestern border area of Vietnam. She is 45 years old, married, and has four children who are working far from home. Like other villagers, Bich works in a farm to earn income for living costs.

Although all her children have finished school, she still works hard with many activities such as hired labor, cultivation and raising pigs, chicken, ducks, and buffalo to develop the family’s economy.

In order to have a better life, Bich decides to expand her cow farming model by buying a new cow. Because she is a reputable person who has repaid successfully 10 previous loans, she easily accesses and borrows an 11th loan from the Anh Chi Em program which also has trained her about livestock techniques.

The profit from this investment will be used to invest in the next business activities and she will use a portion of the profit to save for future needs. Bich shared that she thanks Kiva lenders and the Anh Chi Em for opportunity to escape from poverty.
