A loan helped to buy cereals grains (corn and beans) to resell so she can improve her income.

Brenda's story

Brenda, a 34-year-old single mom pictured in her simple house, is a smallholder farmer who lives in Vihiga, in the Western region of Kenya. She is a mother who is full of dreams and great aspirations.

Her primary source of income has been crops. Although she has been making profits from farming, she has identified a market for selling cereals in her local market. The only big challenge she faces is the lack of funds to purchase stock.

She is requesting a loan to buy cereals. She intends to buy different varieties of cereals (that is, maize and beans) to sell in the local market. The market for the cereal grains is never a problem because the demand is always high, and she plans to take advantage of that.

Brenda’s life will take another turn, and she will be able to secure the future of her family.
