Mercy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and organic fertilizers to boost her farming, increase her production and meet her basic needs as a single mom.

Mercy's story

Mercy, 25, is a single mother of a lovely child and is a rural smallholder farmer from the Kapsabet area of Kenya. After realizing that the jobs accessible to uneducated and unskilled people do not provide livable wages, she decided to venture into farming. In her remote village, most people depend on agriculture for a living. The people there live and work on small farms. Their biggest challenge is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Kerugoya can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Mercy is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizers.

Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market, and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family.

Kindly lend to this mom and make a difference in a woman’s life!
