A loan helped to purchase peanut butter and honey to resell.

Salimatou's story

Salimatou is a young merchant, 27 years old, who is the married mother of three children of whom two are students in elementary school, and the youngest is in preschool.

Salimatou is active in the commerce of peanut butter and honey. She purchases these products during the Diaobé weekly fairs located in the southeast of Senegal. She ships the honey to Dakar to be sold by an intermediary, and she herself sells peanut butter by the kilo from out of her home.

She is asking for a loan of 350.000 FCFA to purchase sizable amounts of peanut butter and honey to increase sales.

Salimatou is very proud of her business, which enables her to cover her personal expenses and to manage her children’s schooling costs. She also saves some of her money in case of emergencies. Her big dream is to become a major merchant and to employ many young women.
