Nua Ngam 43 Group's story

43-year-old Duan is a Kho Mu ethnic minority woman. She married and lives with husband and 3 children in a remote village of the Northwest Vietnam, where agriculture is the main source to earn income for people.

Despite of working hard with many agriculture activities every day such as cultivation, raising chickens, ducks and buffalo, Duan’s family is still poor and has been recognized as a poor household by the local government. Because of poverty, her eldest son had to work when he finished high school, her middle daughter had to drop out of school at grade 9 and had to work to earn money, so Duan just has one child who is attending school.

In order to enough money for her youngest child to go to school, she would like to expand her business. Fortunately, she has accessed and successfully borrowed a loan from the Anh Chi Em program to solve her lack of capital. Duan shared that the buffalo will help her in cultivation and reduced labor so she decides to use this loan to buy a buffalo.

Duan said that her dream is that her children always are happy, healthy and escape the vicious circle of poverty. She thanks Kiva lenders and the Anh Chi Em program have helped her overcome difficulties.
