A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as hybrid seeds and certified fertilizer to improve her yields.

Clarah's story

Just like any other mother would do, Clarah (52) has always cared for her 3 children. She is a farmer from Kitale, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. Clarah is a mixed farmer who has farmed for many years.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Kiva's partner Juhudi Kilimo ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in the availability of inputs.

Clarah is requesting this loan so that she can buy hybrid seeds and rich nutrient fertilizers to use on her farm. She believes that these inputs will help her improve her farm yield and therefore increase her income level. She is confident that she will be able to repay her loan and expand her farm. This loan will surely empower this hardworking woman. Support her and show love to a mother, and help her prosper in her life.
