Joaniter's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more fresh varieties of food for the restaurant like maize flour, raw green bananas, and beans, and also saucepans.

Joaniter's story

Joaniter is 32 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. For the past four years, she has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Joaniter has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh varieties of food like maize flour, raw green bananas, and beans, and saucepans and plates for the restaurant. It will help her to generate greater profits and improve on her family standard of living by providing them with enough food and also buying some basic needs for her family.

Joaniter hopes that in the future she will be able to provide a catering service in her community and build a house of her own.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small group members like Joaniter who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
