A loan helped to purchase more Irish potatoes, cassava, tomatoes, beans and onions to increase sales.

Halimah's story

Halimah is 26 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has a child. For the past three years, Halimah has been working hard to manage her grocery store, selling Irish potatoes, cassava, tomatoes, beans and onions.

To expand her business, Halimah requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more stocks of Irish potatoes, cassava and tomatoes to increase her sales. This will help Halimah generate greater profits and allow her to buy food and other basic needs for her family. Halimah hopes that in the future, she will be able to open a different grocery to increase her earnings.

Halimah is a member of BRAC's Microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members like Halimah, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
