Babra's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour for sale.

Babra's story

Babra is 33 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. For the past year, Babra has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells essential items like sugar, salt, cooking oil and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Babra has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour for sale. This will help Babra to generate greater profits and invest more in the business and buy food for her family.

Babra hopes that in the future, she will be able to expand her business into a wholesale shop and also build rentals for business.

Babra is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Babra who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
