Selaima's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase mulberry bark and other raw materials for her tapa making and craft businesses.

Selaima's story

Selaima is a 68-year-old widow who works to make her own income. She joined a group of women in order to make tapas. Selaima also makes kiekie and kafa in her spare time as a side business. She lives with her granddaughter, who is the only person who helps her with the business.

Once a week, she meets with a group of women at her church to make tapas. Selaima designs her own tapas and then sells them to her daughter who lives overseas. For her kiekie business, her granddaughter helps with braiding the materials. She sells the kiekie to local customers at the market.

This loan will be used to buy mulberry bark and raw materials for both of her businesses. Her dream is to earn enough from her businesses to provide for her granddaughter’s future.
