Wimonnan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy raw materials to ensure her hammock business continues smoothly despite global uncertainty.

Wimonnan's story

Wimonnan, whose friends call her "Jai", lives in Huay Hom, a Hmong village in the mountains of northern Thailand. She is married and has one small child. Jai and her husband are farmers, which means that they have periods of exhausting dawn-to-dusk field labor at some points in the year. But during the slow time during the growing season, she picked up the skill of hammock weaving and it has transformed her life. She says, "I use the money I earn to pay our electric bill, buy food for our family and buy some things that have made my life easier, such as an electric fan and an electric rice pot. I could never have bought them without my income from weaving hammocks." Since her previous Kiva loan, she says, "My weaving skill has improved and consequently so has my average income." Jai's loan will also ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global pandemic. Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Jai is grateful for your support to continue empowering her journey! This loan will help Jai stabilize her hammock weaving income by ensuring she has supplies and yarn to weave consistently through the coming year.
