Magdallen's story

Magdallen (a 51-year-old mom of seven) is a smallholder farmer who lives in the Bungoma area of Kenya. As a resilient woman, she has defied the common thinking among Kenyans that agriculture is old-fashioned.

Her primary source of income is milk from her cows. She also grows crops on their farm. Ever since she made her first profit from agriculture, she has always felt elevated to richer and greater heights.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially because of the high costs of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which have always skyrocketed.

To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions that sometimes impose very complicated procedures in loan distribution. Some farmers, especially women, end up being disadvantaged.

Magdallen is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer to improve the quality of her farm products and attract more buyers, leading to more profits.

Kindly lend to her!
