Mujeres Vencedoras Sacatepeque Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy clothing, cleaning, and personal care products.

Mujeres Vencedoras Sacatepeque Group's story

Education is not free in Guatemala and 39 year old Lesvia understands that her 2 children (14 and 16) will have more opportunities with more education. Lesvia is married and her husband works in a factory. Eight years ago, she began selling personal care and cleaning products. She sells online and from house to house. Part of their income supports the education of their children. With her 1st Kiva loan, Lesvia can buy clothing, personal care products, and household cleaning products. She wants to have plenty of inventory on hand for the end of the year holidays.

Lesvia is Treasurer of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Vencedoras Sacatepéquez” or “The Winning Women of Sacatepequez”. Besides Lesvia, there are 6 other ladies in the group who sell American clothing, dairy products, honey, personal care products, and household cleaning products. Others have tortilla shops and internet cafes. Because they have little or no formal education, their monthly educational training sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education, and health care services, are essential to their success. A recent topic concerned wise investing practices and how to grow a business. Other topics are drawn from 3 areas: family, women, and health. Since the public health care system in Guatemala is stretched thin, the women appreciate bi-monthly basic health care services and consults.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for the vital role you play in the lives of Lesvia and her friends.
